Stormy

Stormy was our first collie champion and first smooth. Stormy brought much excitement to the Bit O' Heaven household. She was very smart and loved taking care of puppies and keeping everyone else in line. Stormy helped me with puppies ears by holding the pup down if it got too wiggly.  Stormy finished quickly at 16 months old and took 9 BOV's in a row after that. She then retired from the show ring to become a mom.  Her first litter produced 5 champions.  She now has 8 champions. Stormy was OFA hips, mild crc. Thank you Shelley Bergstrasser of Wild Wind Collies for our first smoothie. At 11 years old Stormy passed her RN Title (Rally Novice) in 3 shows.

Andy

Owned, loved and missed by Dan Hargis (pictured right)

Andy was a hit where ever he went,  people loved him.  He got along with everyone and every other animal as you can see with the miniature horse.  Andy is pictured on the right with his rescue friends Sadie (sniffing the Schnauzer) and Lassie.

Andy was not supposed to live to see 2 years old.  He was born with a severe heart defect that affected him when he overdid it.  He learned to settle down when he felt weak and would recoup.  We had two dopplers done before he left here,  one at 6 months (that is when we were told he wouldn't see 2) then again at 1 year and they told us his heart muscle got stronger to compensate for his narrow artery (narrow all the way from his heart to his lungs). When Dan had him,  Andy had two dopplers done there and he was told Andy wouldn't live past 5 years old.  Dan knew he could go any day.  He gave Andy a steak every Sunday  and Tuesday was pizza night.  Andy traveled all over the US in Dan's RV.  Dan had also adopted a feral rescue dog from us from a big puppymill in WI.  Neil was socialized for a whole year before we even considered adopting him out.  When Dan came to see him (from Missouri to WI) he had to basically start all over.  He got Neil to the point of sleeping with him,  going up to strangers,  and just being a happy go lucky boy which he wasn't in the puppymill.  Unfortunately Neil died at 8 years old of Cancer and we were sure Andy would go first.  They were the same age.  At 8 years old,  Dan was told that dogs with this severe of a problem NEVER live beyond 8.  Andy beat the odds  and lived to 10 years and one month.  He had to have his teeth cleaned and 20+ pulled.  He developed an infection and pnuemonia and he never recovered.  I think Dan is an Angel and if it weren't for him Andy wouldn't have had such a wonderful full life. Here is poem someone sent him.

REQUEST FROM THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Weep not for me though I am gone,
Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long,
Upon my soul's sweet flight.

I am at peace, my soul's at rest,
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.

There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.

Remember not my fight for breath,
Remember not the strife,
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

Sugar

Sugar had gray collie syndrome (Canine Cyclic Neutropenia).   At 10 weeks old she was sent to a pediatric research hospital to be tested on for a new drug for children.   They cured her and she came back here to live.  She was the sweetest, smartest little girl and I loved her so much.  She was so healthy and feisty.  She died just 2 months short of 5 years old of liver cancer.   You can see her story on our GCS page.

     Seasons In The Sun

(revised)

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend
We've known each other since I remember when
Together we've climbed hills & trees,
learned of love and ABC's
skinned our hearts and our knees.

Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Pretty flowers are everywhere
Think of me and I'll be there

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time

Goodbye, Michelle, please pray for me
I was the collie of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong
So much play and so much song
Wonder how you'll get along

Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them I'll be there

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
but the play and the song
Like the seasons have all gone.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun,
but the play and the song
Like the seasons have all gone.

Goodbye, my friends my little ones
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
And every time that I was down
You would always be around
And get my feet back on the ground

Goodbye, my friends, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wish that we could all be there

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun
But the play and the song
Like the seasons have all gone.

All our loves we had fun we had season in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time.
